⚠️ What you need to know before growing a tea plant ⚠️
The tea plant, or Camellia sinensis var. sinensis, is a slow-growing evergreen shrub that can reach 2–3 metres in height and a similar spread after around twenty years. Well suited to temperate and continental climates, it can withstand temperatures down to -12°C, and even -15°C for some cultivars.
It requires acidic soil (pH < 6), preferably relative humidity above 60%, moderate to high rainfall, well-drained soil, and can be grown in conditions ranging from shade to full sun.
